I used to call myself a stone hearted person. Rarely emotional. On one such rare occasion, I made a visit to my school just to test my limits of emotion.
I was at the school main gate entrance where I remember a girl whom I had crush on.. We once exchanged looks at the main gate. She was quite matured than me during school days and used to give me chances to speak. But me being shy, proved negative value boy to her.
This time, I walked in with head held up because I never did that during school days due to the fear I had on staffs, shyness and several other higher priority reasons!
The subconcious mind redirected to me to staff room where I can find staffs but I found it to be filled with sports equipments. It made me little uncomfortable. I felt that it should have remained as staff room. Even this small change is unacceptable at times. Then came peon bro, who smiled seeing me and told that staff room got shifted to the other location. Things are not same ever. It keeps on changing. It should keep on changing. Else we will get bored.
As I took steps to the staff room, few teachers identified me, came near me in surprise and enquired about me, my parents, my elder sister and my present job. Teachers connect with parents easily. Most of them know my mom more than they know me. One big problem of having an elder sister is that we lose our own identity.
Everyone used to identify me always as
"Gita's Brother he is",
"Hey you are Gita's brother right? She used to score well. Why not you?"
I hate that.....!
Few staffs complained that present management in school is not the same as before. There will always be people who complain.. There were some new admission in staffs too..
I thought of taking a small walk around my school. I felt like restarting once again from childhood. Why just games and softwares alone have restart option?
I was nearing 4th grade class rooms. I heard a staff scolding a small boy for not doing his yesterday's homework. She was angry on that boy. I interrupted her. I introduced myself as old student. "This is not fair" I said. "Scolding the child will just be a temporary solution. Don't bring in fear of staffs to children. If you do so, he will take 15 more years to walk with head held up. Treat every child like your child", I said and left the place.
Ain't I brave? Yes, if I had done so in my school days. Now I can't claim that as a brave act.
Two days later, I was waiting to meet my friend near the school playground. Boys were playing in the ground. Whatever game it is, I used to be the poor player in that. But there should be someone to do poor play. Else, there won't be any way to measure boys who play well.
Ouch! Someone hit me with a stone from behind. It would be definitely my friend whom I promised to meet long before but couldn't keep up. Turned back to see a small boy running at his own speed. I couldn't run that fast as him but somehow managed to catch him. I thought he did for fun, but his faced reflected anger. I asked for reason. I came to know that the staff beat him that day after I left the place. That was not at all fair..
I met her at once.......
Me "Mam, this is not good on your part to do so to this kid even after hearing from me... "
She, "Son, I didn't do anything wrong. I just followed your words. I did what you said..."
What did I say? Treat every child like your child .. Oh shit!... Lol....

Keep it Up..!! Ahem ..Literally.
"Children, Today I am going to distribute your Science Papers. Everybody has done very well. So give yourself a very big clap." said my class teacher Miss.Lakshmi.
It was my II Grade.

She was one of the teachers,I would claim who influenced and inspired me a lot. If there was a rewind button available, I would love to start again from being a student of her.
Being a kid then, I was naughtier, disturbingly proactive and not chubby, can say boyish.! A gang of three we are,
Madhuvarman - the funniest lot among us, but currently going by the looks he is more a ruffian, Vivek - perfect kid, only by appearance - totally out of contact presently. (Vivek, Seeing this post,if you remember us. just mail back). Being troublesome - after Kindergarten, each of us was made to part by the then class teachers and was admitted into one section each.
I was sitting puzzled in the very last bench since I was taller than the most boys in the class-A proud feeling that days. I had clearly no idea how I had written my Science Paper. I used to forget the moment, I walk out of the exam. A phase of school-life till V Grade, until when the ranking system was kept out of our knowledge. I feel this damn system of sorting kids by marks entrenches their heart with fear, jealousy, disgrace and certitude among the top notches who most probably develop the complexity of feeling superior than other.
Okay let me go back to the paper-distribution ceremony.
Miss.Lakshmi generally distributes in the descending order. In the class of nearly 40(Number, I don't remember) 5..10..20..persons received their paper. I am yet to still. I was choking. My heart was literally pushing through my mouth. I was engrossed in thoughts like, "Had I failed. How would mother react then. Should she ever leave me to stay in home. My cricket bat, which she promised was at the very horizon disappearing.Shall I abscond away for some days, until Mom's anger wades away. You are dead meat then, Arvind.... Arvind ...!!
I heard Miss calling me, with more weird thoughts' frequency popping up , I stood and walked to her. Her reactions initially sent me wrong signals tingling my mind. My hands were wet for once in the very lifetime till now. She had a little grin on her face. I grabbed the paper to see and was jumping on my feet a thousand times virtutally. "94 V.Good , Keep It Up.!!" .

Back home, Mom was at kitchen. I rushed to her, jumped to sit on the slab to express my joy of getting "V.Good Keep it Up..!!" from my favourite teacher. She was as well excited. Only son then to rejoice for.
Now the most innocent and rib-tickling part..!!
Mom was on the floor laughing the next second.
I was embarrassed after when she explained to me not take things very much as it is and the exact intended appreciation of the teacher.I was little shy then. The best thing was that I avoided the embarrassment by at least the classmates not knowing the incident and the intention that made my papers atop the desk the day long.
The innocence, true to heart, ignorant of the deeds' after-effects, take it easy attitude, loyal to friends, accepting everybody as they are. Some very rare affairs that are possessed only in childhood, that too in the purest form possible.Growing by years every possessed value degrades for which one as an individual, are more than 99% responsible. The baby's eye is as white when born, but as it grows seeing things which it should not, cultivating habits which are meant bad, arrogance, anger, enemity, betrayal, selfishness , they get accumulated, making the eyes lose its whiteness like the milk that is gone sour.
Can't I be the same when I was then.Where do my morals stand now. How did they demean. Was I, responsible for this. Leaps and bounds was how much I have changed. Pursuing to get back the persona, will now take one more lifetime again. May be next life I ought to try not to lose out to things that may put down my identity of childhood and carry that throughout.

Mom, You know,I did what she had said exactly.I obeyed her and never did I take the papers from the top of the desk the entire day.Nobody had their papers on the desk which precisely means I was the only person to get "Keep it Up.!!". Actually she wanted me to showcase me as the best ever student in her class. Ain't I a good boy? Mom.

Jessie is driving me crazy..
"Kadhala Thedi Poga Mudiyuma Enna"
A simple saying that means a lot. As the makers of "Vinnaithandi Varuvaya" claim it as a feel-good light-hearted entertainer, they made sure that they stick to that very seriously and hence the outcome.
This movie with usual trademark Gautham's style, starts off with the intermission scene followed by the introduction of protagonist and subsequently the other characters and the sequences that leads to the intermission. The casting of a movie is so important, that Gautham usually plays with ,well quite naturally and with ease.
This post is just another HOSANNA , that I am singing in praise of Gautham, AR Rahman and the entire team of VTV.
The title music, backwaters during daybreak in Kerala with credits afloat over the water in Tamil and the shadow in English.(I noticed this only the 2ND time I watched the movie). The unique creativity of Gautham's that is really laudable. The next is the song "Hosanna" where he tries to impart that the girl is a Christian through his spellbound locations with mostly churches in the backdrop. I wonder how many of you would have understood that when watched for the first time. This what makes him so different in the way he narrates.
The gamble of casting Ganesh as the slapstick comedian worked out amazingly that gelled very much aptly to the script.Although he had played some short roles in PachaiKilli Muthucharam as the baddie alongside Milind Soman as the taxi driver and in Vaaranam Aayiram as the librarian.(If you can remember "Krishnan , unna romba pudicirukunu solla sonnan, sollitaen").The lime light showered on him only after VTV.If you had observed keenly there are no other friends to Karthik except him that is exposed in the movie. Ganesh from his part has justified to his very best to the character. Not just his voice, his body language where he deep sighs every time in the event of any mishaps/embarrassment really tickles one's ribs. The every dialogue where he starts with "Dai Thambi..." has gone well down with the audience.(I am trying hard to mimic his voice).
"Inga enna solluthu, Jessie Jessie sollutha", was everybody's favourite. I am not sure how many of you have taken notice of the Gautham's appearance just before that scene. I found the dialogue interesting where he says to Karthik in the boat house in Kerala to enquire about Jessie's place to her mother through his sister ."Unga veedu enga irukku, aunty. Veeta suthi enna lam irukkum, aunty. Puttu Kadalai kadai irukka, aunty". I don't know why, but I really love the way he delivers this piece of dialogue.

Now the take on protagonists,Simbu definitely qualifies a huge applause for choosing the script in the first place. With talent in abundance, he was brooding with usual commercial films, alas this really rationalized his stature, in the process, proving his versatility.Presumption is that Gautham would have casted Simbu , believing the fact that he can perpetuate his personal life failure in love onto the screen. If not Gautham, Simbu would have accepted as he can relate himself well to the bottomline.
Trisha can be equated to Sachin Tendulkar here, "Older they grow, better is their performance". As a vulnerable girl, she crosses even the skies(Vinnai) in her matured portrayal of the character.
A.R.Rahman, it would become very long if I had to start writing about his contribution. His BGMs really elevate the essence of every scene and the places where he had left it with no musical chords even makes volumes of sense to the scenes. It's bad if I leave the cinematography without mentioning. Being Manoj's second movie he had made very detailing to every frame of his so that it adds more value to the script and the fantastic chemistry between the lead pair.
Here are some of the front-runner scenes that I would like to dig upon,
1. The scene at the gate of coffee shop after heated arguments on the happenings in the train. "Jessie come here" says Karthik with a very stylish stance. But Jessie ignores its completely and keeps walking. This depicts that the seniorly attitude of Jessie.
2. After the movie, where Jessie talks about being friends without ego in the restaurant. The BGM preceding that scene is an epitome of A.R.Rahman's ingeniousness.
3. Coming out of police station, Karthik meets Jessie at her home. They try to hide themselves and sit behind a white curtain where their shadows are still seeable.Realistic.Innovative.
4. Parallel scenes, where KS Ravikumar heeds to the assistant director's dialogue and Jessie's father reiterates the same in his style of opposing the marriage saying "Karthik will be over my dead body, Jessie".
5. All the lip-lock scenes which were naturalistic and which did not create wrinkles in the viewers face that makes them so much more authentic.
These are some scenes, I feel that stands out. The most refreshing part is that the lead actor not turning violent nor becoming a drug addict and taking on life as it comes and pursuing his dream of film making. This I would even claim it the USP of VTV.
The one more thing I don't think most of you would have taken notice of is that, the end credits where they show the banner on top of Satyam Cinemas "Jessie, a film by Karthik" the cinematography has Manoj Paramahamsa's name against it, where it should have been Ganesh. Ignoring that what does this movie convey. In a lighter sense "Love the neighbour , but don't get caught!"...ROFL.
